This small tree was dedicated in 2010 to all victims of discrimination and intimidation, in the nationally infamous city park where city police and civil rights protesters clashed repeatedly in the early 1960s.

The plaque at the tree reads as follows:

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment befpre starting to improve the world."
