For years, I regularly walked under the Children of the Wind. However, before the city recently installed a plaque, I did not know who they were.

This vent stack exhausts filtered sewer gases from the city's interceptor sewer located 20 meters below ground. The sewer conducts sanitary waste to the R.O. Pickard Centre situated on the Ottawa River 10 kilometers east of this location.

Cette chiminée de ventilation évacue les gaz d'égout filtrés émanant de l'égout intercepteur municipal enfoul 20 mètres sous terre. Cet égout transporte les déchets sanitaires jusqu'au centre environnemental R.O. Pickard situé à 10 kilometres, en bordure de la rivière des Outaouais.
