The boardwalk through the 5.2 hectare bush park is often used by runners, cyclists and pedestrians, linking Boundary Road and Brooklyn Road.
The construction of a wooden boardwalk, winding through this bushland park, protects what is left of this ancient forest, allowing you to walk under the tall trees and over the fragile plants and tree roots without damaging them. Bird life and ground creatures are also protected from trampling feet.
The boardwalk trail is best done as a loop, with entrances on both Brooklyn Road, Boundary Road and from Claudelands Park.
Time required: 15 – 20 minutes depending on pace.
The park was once part of a 200-hectare forest, dominated by Kahikatea, Rimu and Matai. Developments have seen the forest shrink over the years to its current size, with some of the remaining trees part of the original forest.
