A short tour through the Hamburg district of Barmbek.
Barmbek, until 27 September 1946 Barmbeck, is the name of a former village that was absorbed into the city of Hamburg, Germany. In 1951 it was divided into the quarters Barmbek-Süd, Barmbek-Nord and Dulsberg in the borough Hamburg-Nord.
Formerly a working-class district with some large factories, Barmbek is now a "normal" residential area, where some relics from the past are still visible.
The small tour concentrates on motifs with a historical background, but there are other discoveries waiting on the walk that are not documented as waymarks, but are definitely worth a look.
The following objects were selected as waypoints:
- Dampfspeicher-Lokomotive Tiefstack
- New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie
- Schildvortriebsmaschine TRUDE
- Barmbeker Turmhaus - Heiligengeistkirche
- Gedenkstein für die Opfer der Franzosenzeit
- Max Rentsch Zahnradfabrik
The proposed itinerary is about 3 km long, but serves only as a point of reference. To the left and right of the path, the interested waymarker can discover a variety of other things.
The tour can be rounded off with a drink or snack on the grounds of the Museum der Arbeit.
