Over 40 years ago, a chance encounter between the music bands Neumarkt and Horneburg developed into a continuous friendship between the two communities, which culminated in a formal partnership in 1989.
Despite the great distance of around 1000 kilometres, there are many official and private contacts between the two partner communities. Fire brigades, clubs and even school classes visit each other at regular intervals, and the contact between the community leaders is always constructive.
