Wikipedia"A fairy is a type of mythical being or legendary creature in European folklore (particularly Celtic, Slavic, German, English, and French folklore), a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural, or preternatural.
Wings, while common in Victorian and later artworks, are rare in folklore; fairies flew by means of magic, sometimes perched on ragwort stems or the backs of birds. Modern illustrations often include dragonfly or butterfly wings."
This sculpture of a fairy is open weave wire perhaps to give the illusion of seeing thru him. His large butterfly style wings are hardly discernible. The faceless head is thrown back and it appears his long hair is flowing upward. In his hand may be a large magic wand.
