The Astoria Column has a 500 foot mural that depicts the history of the explorers and developers of the NW, including Lewis and Clark. The mural shows scenes chronologically from the bottom of the Column, spiraling to the top.

The Column was built on the top of Coxcomb Hill, which is the highest hill in Astoria. From the top, you have the best view of the mouth of the Columbia, where it flows into the Pacific Ocean.

The Column is featured in the Lewis and Clark Trail website here.

Coxcomb Hill is available at all times.

$1 fee for parking (during giftshop hours)

Column is free.

The Astoria Column is open from 9am - Dusk, year around.

Closed during high winds, mostly only in the winter.

Look at the mural on the outside of the Column. Climb the 164 steps to the top to see an excellant view of Lewis and Clark's journey's end. Walk around to see historical displays near the Column. Visit the giftshop.
