The name of the Hatchery implies that this may be solely a Trout Hatchery. But as I wasn't able to have a self-guided tour ($5 for adults, $2.50 for children and pensioners) which can only be taken between 8am and 3:30pm, and was in the area after that, I can't be sure if there are other species also breed and raised here. The Facebook page has quite a few photos of the site from people who have taken 'a tour'.
A sign on one of the 'Brood Ponds' displays:
"These 5 ponds are approximately 1 Mega Litre in volume. The water supply is gravity fed by the weir upstream from the Serpentine River.
"The Trout in these ponds vary in age from 1 year old to 3 years old, and are kept here from September to April to maintain them in good condition for maximum egg production until spawning commences at the end of Autumn, where they will be drained into the concrete Raceways next to the Hatchery Shed.
"Netting that covers 3 of the ponds is to protect the younger fish from predatory birds such as Cormorants.
"Paddle wheels aerate the water to maintain oxygen levels. The fish are fed twice daily with a high protein fish/meat meal pellet."

[Unfortunately too late in the afternoon to have a tour of the facility.]
