Over the past 150 years, the Semiahmoo Peninsula has undergone extensive changes. From an old growth forest that was logged and replaced with a second growth forest, then cleared and farmed, and finally turned into urban and suburban development.
Through this process, many of the native plant species have been replaced with introduced plants. This has changed what food is available for birds.
In an effort to educated the public on native plants the Friends of Semiahmoo Bay have created this sliver demonstration garden tucked between a parking lot and The Promenade - a very popular destination.
