A New Deal WPA Project was the funding of murals, which were placed in the lobbies of post offices throughout the United States. The Weatherford Post Office has a lovely example of these murals which hangs high on the wall above the postmaster's office.

Painted in oil on canvas, this masterpiece was created in 1939 by artist Oscar E. Berninghaus. It is called "Terminus of the Railroad" and shows a small town depot, with a locomotive and train pulling into the station. Nearby are several Connestoga wagons, and horses.
