The Weatherford post office building was constructed in 1937. This is a one-story brick building with a flat roof and simple lines. An addition was added on the east side in the 1980's with very similar construction. The post office is located at 107 E. Franklin Avenue, and serves a community of about 12,000 residents.
The original portion of the building is symmetrical with a double-door entrance at the center, with 8 steps leading to the porch area. There are four multi-paned double hung windows in this portion, with two additional in the east extension. All have stone sills and lintels. A WPA-sponsored mural hangs in the post office lobby.
A cornerstone on the front wall reads:
Henry Morgenthau Jr.
Secretary of the Treasury
James A. Farley
Postmaster General
Louis A. Simon
Supervising Architect
Neal A. Melick
Supervising Engineer
