Obec Hukvaldy (nemecky Hochwald) leží v okrese Frýdek-Místek. Rozkládá se na 2 037 hektarech a žije zde približne 2 000 obyvatel. Je to poslední obec ciste lašská na valašsko-lašském rozhraní. Krajina okolo Hukvald je predhurím Beskyd a nejzápadnejší cástí Karpat.
Na kopci nad obcí stojí hrad Hukvaldy – jeden z nejmohutnejších hradu na Morave.
Leoš Janácek (3. . 1854 Hukvaldy – 12. 8. 1928 Ostrava) byl svetove uznávaný ceský skladatel klasické hudby.

The village Hukvaldy (German Hochwald) lies in the Frýdek-Místek district. It covers 2 037 hectares and has about 2 000 inhabitants. It is the last village, purely lashes, on the Wallachian-Tasmanian border. The countryside around Hukvald is the foothills of the Beskids and the westernmost part of the Carpathians.
On the hill above the village stands the castle Hukvaldy - one of the most massive castles in Moravia.
Leoš Janácek (05.03.1854 Hukvaldy - 08.12.1928 Ostrava) was a world-renowned Czech composer of classical music.
