EN The Sainte-Agathe chapel, like the tower which has now recovered its former youth, probably dates from the 12th century and is one of the few remaining witnesses to the castle. According to historical accounts, the castle was inhabited by Raymond Bérenger V, Count of Provence and his wife Beatrice of Savoy following their marriage in 1220, and according to some historians they resided there with their four daughters, Marguerite, Eleonore, Sancie and Béatrice, who became four queens. In the 14th century, when the country depended on the Viscount of Reillanne, the site became the property of the Agoult family and was then found under the aegis of the Marquisate of Oraison. Registered since 1998 as a Historic Monument, the ruin now welcomes visitors free of charge.

Standing proudly beside the tower, the chapel houses the largely erased mural frescoes of twelve 14th century apostles, which almost entirely cover its apse. This small building covered with lauzes and decorated inside with a vault, has an undeniable picturesque charm and thus represents the focal point of the ruin. The site offers an excellent panoramic view of the Mane plain as well as the confluence of the Laye and Largue rivers. The chapel and tower are located opposite the village of Dauphin and overlook Saint-Maime.
