Allis-Chalmers was a U.S.-based manufacturer of all types of equipment including agriculture tractors and balers. It operated from the mid-1800s through to the 1990s. It seems that Allis-Chalmers barn quilts dot the landscape around North America to pay homage to the company. Interestingly, the company seemed to be a bit ahead of its time. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allis-Chalmers#Agricultural_machinery): In 1959, Allis-Chalmers demonstrated a 15 kW fuel cell tractor across the US at state fairs. This was the first fuel-cell-powered vehicle. Potassium hydroxide served as the electrolyte. The original AC fuel cell tractor is currently on display at the Smithsonian.
