It was too early in the season for me to tell what is grown in the field surrounding this farm, but statistics from the 2016 Canadian Census show that soybeans, corn for grain and winter wheat are, by far the most significant crops grown in Huron County.
Livestock inventories are also significant and, in order of heads, chickens lead the way (5.5 million), followed by pigs (679,000), and then cattle and calves (129,000) and sheep and lambs (23,000). There is also 2.6 million sq. ft. of land under greenhouses.
