Mrs. Stephens is buried next to Vernon Denson (d. 1933), who was issued a military grave marker by the United States Government. He was Mrs. Stephens's first husband, and presumably the reason why she was also issued a military grave marker. However, despite the military's having been male-dominated during her life, it's certainly possible that she served, too. Topped by a cross, her headstone reads:

Dinah Woods
Denson Stephens

A Steel Magnolia

Jan. 5 1899
Mar. 13 2000

-----

Significant events that occurred in her lifetime include:

1899 - Alfred Dreyfus is pardoned in France. "Whoops."
1909 - A rare Lincoln penny bearing the initials (on the reverse) of engraver, Victor David Brenner, is minted in San Francisco. Check your pocket change.
1919 - Prohibition is put into effect in the United States, spawning the first war on a substance.
1929 - The second "Great Depression" begins in the United States with a stock market crash in October.
1939 - "The Wizard of Oz", starring Judy Garland, is released.
1949 - George Orwell's "1984" is published. Some folks still love Big Brother.
1959 - One corrupt dictator, Fulgencio Batista, is run out of Cuba by another corrupt dictator, Fidel Castro.
1969 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono spend some time in bed, for peace.
1979 - McDonald's introduces the Happy Meal.
1989 - George H.W. Bush becomes the 41st President of the United States.
1999 - The Columbine Massacre takes place, with twelve students, a teacher, and the two gunmen among the casualties.
2000 - Cartoonist Charles M. Schulz passes away just a day before his final "Peanuts" strip is published.
