This is the third bust to be Waymarked, of three Champion motorcycle racers, that have come to fame at Phillip Island, and that have their busts memorialised in front of the Information Centre.

From the Official Mick Doohan website:
"Michael Doohan - Best known in Australia and around the world as five times Moto GP World Champion 1994 to 1998, and holding four world records in 1997 for his outstanding racing achievements. Mick Doohan has been awarded many honours in his career from Order of Australia in 1996, to being placed in the Australian Sports Hall of Fame three times.

"After retiring in 1999, Mick's interests remained with the racing circuit, however he later turned his sights to aviation by gaining his helicopter pilots licence. Further, Mick's achievements in business has grown in both Australian and International markets to include ventures in aviation, entertainment, and real estate...

"More notably, Mick is most proud of his family and his involvement in motorcycle safe riding programs"
Mick Doohan

Born, Michael Sydney Melbourne Doohan (yeah, what were his parents 'thinking'?) on 4 June 1965, near Brisbane on the Gold Coast, Mick raced in the Australian Superbike races in the late 1980's. His first race win was the 1989 500cc Japanese Grand Prix.

He became the MotoGP World Champion (in the 500cc category) in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, AND 1998 ['only' being bettered by Giacomo Agostini, who won eight (seven consecutive) World Championships, and Valentino Rossi, who won seven (also five consecutive years).] ex- Wikipedia: Mick Doohan
