This Park was created as a way for the Big Lake community to commemorate a deputy for the Reagan County Sheriff's Department who was killed while attempting to apprehend a suspect in 2012.

About the Place:The park is located on N. Montana extending from 9th Street to 10th Street. The entrance to the park is an archway and the park is enclosed in a metal fence. There is playground equipment. There is a flagpole with a metal plaque atop a white rock pillar.
The plaque tells us this park is dedicated to the men and women who, like Josh, dedicate their lives to serving their community.
About the Person:
Josh was born in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1986. He grew up and went to school here in Big Lake, graduating in 2006. While in high school he began his career with the Regan County Sheriff's Office as a part time jailer. It was there that his willingness to serve his community began.
After graduating high school he worked nights as jailer while attending Howard College for his degree in Criminial Justice. He graduated college in May, 2007 and then attended the Concho Valley Regional Law Enforcemnt Academy. Josh graduated from the academy May 21, 2008. One month later he married his high school sweetheart Jill.
In January 2011, Josh began teaching the children of Reagan County about the dangers of drugs and alcohol as the D.A.R.E. officer at the RCSO. He then took over as K-9 officer in January 2012 with his side-kick "Sherlock".
Josh also served on both the Big Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. and the North Reagan County Fire Dept. He was named "Rookie of the Year" in 2007. He was passionate about serving his community.
