Centennial Mural - Carnegie, OK - Murals on Waymarking.com

Painted on the west side of the two-story brick building at 26 W. Main, this mural shows a street scene in downtown Carnegie, perhaps in the 1920's or 1930's. The scene, looking east down Main Street is what the viewer would have seen all those years ago, standing in the same spot as they are viewing the mural. The mural is painted on a wall which would have been on the right in the mural.

The mural was painted by Bob Palmer and his mural students. Palmer murals are in dozens of towns throughout Oklahoma, and always bring a smile. The top portion of the brick wall still retains the stucco which once covered this wall, and the underlying brick shows in the lower part of the mural. In the upper left is a banner reading CARNEGIE OKLAHOMA with the years 1903 and 2003. Carnegie was incorporated in 1903. Vintage vehicles and trucks busily drive up and down Main Street and citizens walk its street. In the lower right is a locomotive depicting the vital role the railroad played in the history of the town.
