One map stands at the north edge of the entrance to the visitor centre parking lot, difficult to miss. The second one is mounted on the south end of the balcony on the front of the building, beside the big "i".

Inside the visitor centre we found a small gaggle of locals sitting around gabbing. We had a fairly lengthy conversation with them about Tonasket and an eclectic collection of other topics. A very friendly crew in this town!

Should you get too deeply involved in conversation while here, don't forget to sign their guest book. They have thoughtfully placed it front and centre, at the corner of the table nearest the entrance, only potentially missed by the truly oblivious.

The lady who was manning the centre on the day we visited was very helpful and knowledgeable, offering a plethora of unsolicited information on what to see and do in and around Tonasket. The centre itself is very well stocked with maps, pamphlets and brochures on the town, the Okanogan and Washington in general. Some of the information available went as far afield as British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon and California. The centre also has a very informative WEBSITE.

Nicely landscaped in the front, the centre also has a picnic area at the rear of the parking lot, with a grassed area, picnic tables and a gazebo available for the use of the tourists who should stop in - and we recommend that they do so!

Welcome to Tonasket
