"On the beach of Leffrincoucke, an anonymous artist has completely covered mirrors a blockhouse built in 1944.

Assisted by several art students, a 38-year-old anonymous artist from Dunkerque has done a lot of work on the first blockhouse of the Leffrinckoucke battery with 350 m2 of surface to cover with mirrors. The project started in March 2014, all the mirrors come from landfills. The work is being formalized with the authorities.

This diversion, initiated in March 2014, 70 years after the construction of blockhouses by the German army in the dunes of Flanders, is in the tradition of Land Art but with an aesthetic and political dimension of its own. This heavy, massive, almost motionless architecture becomes a moving surface that, every minute, changes its appearance by reflecting the sky and the landscape. The mirror here is used as a plastic language. The blockhouse is forgotten, camouflaged. But by disappearing, he reveals. This second skin puts the shadow in the light."
