Narcisse-Fortunat Belleau

De 1835 à 1894, soit durant près de 60 ans, vécut ici Narcisse-Fortunat Belleau, né à Sainte-Foy le 20 octobre 1808. Avocat et homme politique, il fut conseiller municipal puis maire de Québec de 1850 à 1853. Les citoyens lui doivent notamment leur approvisionnement en eau potable à partir du lac Saint-Charles.
Narcisse-Fortunat Belleau fut également membre et président du Conseil législatif, chef du gouvernement de la province du Canada conjointement avec John Alexander MacDonald, et premier lieutenant-gouverneur du Québec. Décédé à Québec le 14 septembre 1894, il fut inhumé dans la chapelle des Ursulines.

From 1835 to 1894, that is for nearly 60 years, lived here Narcisse-Fortunat Belleau, born in Sainte-Foy on October 20, 1808. Lawyer and politician he was a municipal councillor then mayor of Quebec from 1850 to 1853. The citizens owe him their supply of drinking water from Lake Saint-Charles.
Narcisse-Fortunat Belleau was also a member and chair of the Legislative Council, head of the provincial government of Canada, along with John Alexander MacDonald, and first lieutenant-governor of Quebec. He died in Quebec City on September 14, 1894, and was buried in the Ursuline Chapel.
