Description: A category to waymark vegetarian restaurants around the world.
Expanded Description:
Few countries in the world are without some form of vegetarian restaurants—a global category. The goal here is to waymark vegetarian restaurants, both big and small, world wide, for general interest and to aid vegetarians in their search for a good meal. We're looking for restaurants which have as their theme, not simply the non-serving of meat, but rather the active promulgation of the vegetarian diet. There 'raison d'être', as it were. Thus icecream shops and donut dives do not qualify. Sorry.
Within this category we do recognise that in some areas of the world, the Middle-East comes to mind, vegetarianism is near non-existent. Thus restaurants in such locales, which do actively support vegetarianism, by including a significant and specific, vegetarian menu category (not simply the presence of non-meat dishes, e.g. a bowl of rice on the menu), can and should also be included.
Non-vegetarians are both welcome and encouraged to participate.
* We are a new group and category. As such we are looking for new members and new officers. Being an officer involves added responsibility: approving new waymarks and voting on (rare) changes to the category. Nothing too arduous. If you are interested please enquire or just sign up.
