Napoleon was an enlightened despot in the French Empire in the late 18th century right after the French Revolution and the guillotining of Louis XIV. Napoleon Influenced many countries including the United States with the Continental System, Holy Roman Empire by the Concordat of 1801, United Kingdom as the county was his main enemy, and many more. Napoleon also established the Legion of Honor which is still in effect today to recognize ordinary citizens of french nationality. He later declared himself emperor of the French Empire when he expanded France outside its borders. His most important achievement can be agued that of the Code Napoleon which is in effect of over 100 counties today! His last battle was at Waterloo in present day Belgium where he later was exiled to an island in the south atlantic. He later died here. Napoleon left a lasting legacy for centuries to come and now is the time to categorized those places that he influenced or statues dedicated to the fires enlighten despot.
