Members of this group will have an interest in locating markers in northwest North Carolina related to commemorating the life and times of Daniel Boone, America's pioneer hero. He lived in North Carolina for 21 years, from 1752 to 1773, from the ages of 18 to 39. The North Carolina Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization chartered in NC during 2010. Participants in this Waymarking group are welcomed to join that organization as dues-paying members at www.ncdbht.org, but certainly do not have to do so to participate in this Waymarking group.

Michelle Ligon serves as Board Secretary for the NC Daniel Boone Heritage Trail. She is Board Chair for Southern Appalachian Historical Association, Inc., producer of Hickory Ridge Living History Museum and "Horn in the West." She works as Public Relations Director for the Boone Tourism Development Authority in Boone, NC.
