Antique Shops
Expanded Description:
Antique shops often reflect a lot of history and culture, almost museum in character. Antique shops may be large or small, independent, group shops, featuring high end collectibles or memorabilia, specialty shops or general, stand alone or cooperatives. Any shop that identifies itself as dealing in antiques or antiquarian items is elgible for inclusion in this category. Thrift shops and simple second hand stores are not elgible.

Instructions for Posting a Antique Shops Waymark:
NOTE: If a store is part of a cooperative, consignment shop, or group store, waymark only the larger facility, NOT each individual dealer/shop within it.

NAME: The name of the shop and its location or address must be included in the title. Please follow the format of shop name space dash space location, using the following as an example:

Antiques Collaborative - Quechee, VT

1. Coordinates obtained from your personal GPS readings.
These should be taken from the main entrance to the building. If this is impossible for any reason, please state this in your description and identify the point of your coordinates.

2. At least TWO photographs -- a view showing the entire shop, or major portion thereof (this should be the default photo), and a close-up clearly showing a sign with the name of the shop. If there is no such sign, please state such and this requirement is waived, of course. GPSr photo is NOT required.

NOTE: All photos must be original and placed in this category's gallery.

3. Narrative description -- Include as much information about this particular antique shop as you can -- anything unique, historical; specialties, owners, etc.

4. Variables -- NOT ALL variables listed are required, only the basic information, so don't let this deter you. They are provided to give you an easy way to record important information that may or may not be relevant to your waymark. Do what you can.

SPECIAL NOTE: While the details outlined in our category description, and the requirements listed in the posting instructions, cover the MINIMUM elements and standards for all waymarks in this category, each waymark will also be evaluated by a volunteer reviewer for overall quality and appropriateness. If a reviewer deems that there are deficiencies in some aspect of the waymark, the waymark may be either declined or accepted with request for changes and/or additions in either content or format.

Each waymark will be evaluated on its own merits. We will endeavor to be reasonable and flexible while maintaining the quality standards for the category. If there is a disagreement, try to work it out with the evaluating officer, or appeal to the group leader, but we reserve the right to accept or decline a waymark based on our best judgement.

LANGUAGE NOTE: We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. Because of our international scope, we also acknowledge ENGLISH as our lingua franca. English will create the highest level of accessibility globally. All waymarks must have at least a short description in ENGLISH. We encourage bilingual and multilingual waymarks, but one of the languages must be English. We have volunteer translators to help.

Relying on software or internet based translators, such as Babylon and Google Translate, may NOT yield accurate translations that are intelligible. Use these only when there is no alternative. Although we do not expect grammatical perfection, a waymark may be declined if there the English language is not understandable.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Post one photo of the shop that is a different view from the one on the page, if possible, and describe your visit. Add any additional information that you may have about this building. A GPSr photo is NOT required.
