Coin-Operated Fortune Telling Machines
Managed By: Icon Here The Prognosticators
Coin-operated fortune telling machines typically can be found in tourist locations and arcades, but they can also occasionally be found in bars and restaurants.
Expanded Description:

Remember the 1988 movie "Big" starring Tom Hanks? In the movie, a 13-year-old boy goes to a fortune telling machine called Zoltar Speaks, which is in the shape of a wizard, and wishes that he were "big." The next morning, he wakes up, looks in the mirror, and sees a face he doesn't recognize. It turns out his wish came true and he became a 30-year-old man (played by Tom Hanks) overnight.

Your mission is to seek out these kinds of coin-operated fortune telling machines around the world. This can include machines with an animated gypsy, grandma, or wizard figure that moves, deal cards, and gives out a paper fortune; palm reader machines that light up a bulb next to the item describing your future; horoscope machines; etc. They simply must be coin-operated and they must claim to foretell the future.

Instructions for Posting a Coin-Operated Fortune Telling Machines Waymark:

1. NAME: The name of the coin-operated fortune telling machine and its location should be included in the title. Generally this should be the city/town, state and/or country -- whatever is appropriate to its location.

Example: Gypsy Grandma - City, State/Country

2. COORDINATES: Post coordinates to the machine, or the nearest location where you can take coordinates if the machine is indoors.

3. PHOTO: At least one original photograph (taken by you) showing the entire machine (this should be the default photo) must be included with your waymark. Extra photos with interesting close-ups, side views, and/or the surrounding area would be nice additions, but are not required. A GPSr photo is not required.

4. DESCRIPTION: Include as much information about the machine as you can (e.g., description of the type of machine, how much it costs to operate, the name of the place where it is located, etc. NOTE: You must include a Long Description that is different from the Quick Description.

LANGUAGE NOTE: We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. However, if the waymark is written in a language other than English, an English translation is required. The English translation does not need to be perfect, just clear enough for the Officers and other viewers to understand what the waymark is about. And, as always, please cite your sources. Thank you!
