Description:: Raised walking platforms often constructed of wood or composite materials. They are usually for the purpose of allowing people to avoid terrain matters such as rocks and sand. Typically these afford viewing areas of water features such as oceans, lakes, rivers and ponds.

Expanded Description:

Boardwalks for this category must be found along or through the water, not ones that are for traversing marshes or the like. A boardwalk along a beach front would be an idea location for inclusion. Water should be visible from the boardwalk, and found in online mapping solutions.

Instructions for Posting a Coastal Boardwalks Waymark:

Please acquire at least one photo with your own camera as well as the coordinates with your own GPS device. All content about the boardwalk and surrounding area should be of your own authoring and any content from other sources requires citation.

You will also need to know the approximate length of the boardwalk in feet or metres. The posted coordinates should be for the most common or popular entry point. Boardwalks do not need to be elevated as a simple plank boardwalk serves the same purpose.

Naming your Waymark Listing: You may name your Waymark Listing anything you like within reason but it should provide some indication of the nature of the site. Consider adding a descriptive tag at the beginning of the name to further assist Waymarking participants to locate the Waymark.

As a guideline, the following is a suggested naming scheme for listings in this category: Boardwalk - Oasis Ocean, Sahara Desert. Adding the city, state/province may also benefit others.

While you are free to create your own Waymark Listing name, using the suggested style may help people when they visit multiple Waymark locations.
