Off-Leash Dog Areas
 allows ratings
Managed By: Icon Here Dog Walkers
Assigned areas where dogs can legally play or run off-leash. Open parks, trails or fenced in dog runs.
Expanded Description:
- Any waymarks describing off-leash dog areas can be placed in this category.
Please be as detailed as possible in your description of the park. What's great about the park? What isn't so great? What type of terrain does the park have? How big is the park? Remember you're describing this park to someone who may never have been there before, and may be a visitor to the area in general.
Instructions for Posting a Off-Leash Dog Areas Waymark:

Any waymarks describing off-leash areas may be placed in this category.

Do I have to physically visit the park to record a waymark there?

Yes! ~ (you may not however log this waymark as visited, until you make a special trip to it).

The whole point of this category is to help people find 'Off-Leash Parks' close to them that they might not otherwise know about.

What coordinates should I use?

Coordinates should be for the MAIN parking area for the park. Some very large parks have many different parking areas accessible from different locations. In this case you should fill out the "Additional Parking Coordinates" fields. (see Nose Hill ) for a prime example of this. Other waymarks may not have any appropriate parking area associated with them at all, in which case you may use a point in the middle of the park (see here for an example)

If the co-ordinates you post are not for the parking area, but are instead for some other location, please specify this on your waymark page.

Why wasn't my waymark accepted?

There are two common reasons why we have had to decline to list waymarks in this category. Fortunately they are very easy to fix.

  1. Your waymark name is non-descript. "Pet's playplace" isn't really a good name for the waymark (unless this is the actual name of the park). When describing your waymark, you should have enough information there that someone could even find the park without their GPS.

Now that my waymark has been accepted, what do I need to do?

Its up to you as the waymark owner to police the integrity of the logs on your waymarks. Typically this means that each log on the waymark must have at least one picture associated with it. That picture should either include a GPS showing the current location, or some recognizable feature of the park, like a sign or trespass regulations.
(this ensures that no one can come along afterwards questioning the accuracy of the logs).

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
To log this waymark, you must be able to prove to the waymark owner that you were at the park in question. This probably means a photo. The photo must be identifiably at that park, so having your GPS in the photo might not be a bad idea (alternatively you may include a recognizable landmark)
If you have a dog, photos of your dog having a good time would also be appreciated.
