Elevated Everyday Objects
Managed By: Icon Here Pole Workers
Ordinarily ground level objects permanently placed up high for commercial or artistic purposes as an eye-catching 3-dimensional sculpture or sign.
Expanded Description:

Did you ever drive by a location with some large object up high and wonder, “What is that car (boat, trailer, or AUUUGH! a DUMPTRUCK! etc.) doing up there?”

This category is for waymarks of objects that normally reside on the Earth, but are permanently raised up high.  Usually it is placed by a business that is advertising what products they sell by placing one of those products on a tall pole or rooftop to act like a 3-dimensional sign.  Sometimes it is an artist that places the object “up high” to challenge “everyday reality”.

Objects should be placed high enough to serve as a sign or other eye-catcher. The object can be on a roof or as many supporting poles as necessary.

Exclusions include things normally seen at the tops of poles i.e. power lines, cell towers, mailboxes and traditional signs. Also excluded are display aircraft that are placed on pole to imitate a sense of flight.  Temporary billboards will not be included.

ACCEPTABLE (things not normally seen that high):

  • Trucks
  • Trailers
  • Cars
  • Elephants
  • Road Roller
  • Vacuum Cleaners (uh....vacuum cleaners?)

UNACCEPTABLE (things normally seen on rooftops, poles or in the air):

  • Mailboxes (the airmail boxes just aren't that funny anymore)
  • birdhouses
  • Power Lines
  • Cell Towers
  • Aircraft
  • Signs
  • Lights
  • Solar Arrays
  • Temporary displays
