Managed By: Icon Here Local Information
Description:
To create a list of government/chamber of commerce operated facilities that allow travelers to find out about local information and things to do during their visit in town.
Expanded Description:

Government operated facilities that offer information regarding local attractions and activities for travelers. These are normally found along highways or major streets as you would drive into the region or town.

These must be operated by the city government, or the state/province government and we also accept locations that are run by a local chamber of commerce. These are not privately run businesses or unmanned booths that have flyers, nor are they locations that are set up to only promote themselves (e.g. a National or State Park Visitor Center). They must be managed by some form of governing agency as a benefit to local tourism.

These are often known as Travel Information Centers, Tourist Information Centers, Welcome Centers and Visitor Information Centers. These might also include facilities operated by the local Chamber of Commerce, as long as they meet the requirements of this category.

There is another category for Highway Rest Areas. Cross listings will be considered in this category as long as they meet the requirements of this category, but consider that Rest Areas and Information Centers are not the same thing.

Instructions for Posting a Tourist Information Centers - Visitor Centers Waymark:

You must include an image of the facility as the default image, to be shown on the Waymark listing page.

Naming your Waymark Listing: You may name your Waymark Listing anything you like within reason but it should provide some indication of the nature of the site. Consider adding a descriptive tag at the beginning of the name to further assist Waymarking participants to locate the Waymark.

As a guideline, the following is a suggested naming scheme for listings in this category: TIC - Atlantis

While you are free to create your own Waymark Listing name, using the suggested style may help people when they visit multiple Waymark locations.

You will also need to provide answers to the following variables:

Public Washrooms at facility?
Snacks/Drinks at facility?
Hours of Operation: as a text box to provide for different days of the week

Remember that the primary focus is to provide locations that provide Local Information. The additional variables are secondary reasons to visit this location. Waymarks that are not operated by a government agency will be declined.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:

As a suggestion for your visit log, please make every effort to supply a brief-to-detailed note about your experience at the Waymark. If possible also include an image that was taken when you visited the Waymark. Images can be of yourself, a personal Waymarking signature item or just one of general interest that would be of value to others. Sharing your experience helps promote Waymarking and provides a dynamic history of your adventures.

St Andrew's church is now the home of the Central Tourist Office in Dublin. The church was rebuilt in 1862 after the former church was destroyed by fire. It is located at the junction of St Andrew's Street and Suffolk Street in Dublin.
