Description:
[EN] A place to record places of interest related to the Bonaparte familly.
Expanded Description:
[EN] Napoleon is perhaps the most prominent name associated with the Bonaparte family because he conquered much of the Western world during the early part of the 19th century. He was elected as first consul of France on November 10, 1799 with the help of his brother, Lucien Bonaparte, and president of the Council of Five Hundred at Saint-Cloud. He was crowned Emperor of the French and ruled from 1804-1814, 1815.

The Bonaparte family's descendants also include kings of Spain, Naples, Holland and Westphalia, and a second French Emperor, Napoléon III.

The Louisiana Purchase in which the U.S. purchased a large tract of land from France occurred under the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Napoleon III's adventurism in foreign policy is aptly demonstrated by the French intervention in Mexico (January 1862–March 1867) and led to the creation of the Mexican Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Waymarks in this category will record the locations of publicly accessible places and things somehow related to the descendants of Carlo Buonaparte and Maria Letizia Ramolino (which includes Napoleon) and their spouses.
