Description:
Many cities have developed formal rose gardens to showcase their beauty and fragrance to the public, and this category seeks to waymark those public gardens for all to enjoy.
Expanded Description:

Throughout history and around the world the rose, an ancient symbol of love and beauty, is a much loved shrub. Many cities have developed formal rose gardens to showcase their beauty and fragrance to the public, and this category seeks to waymark those public gardens for all to enjoy.

The gardens waymarked in this category must be gardens that were designed specifically for the showcasing of roses. Also applicable would be a special rose garden section within a larger botanical garden or park as long as it is actually designated as a rose garden. An example of this would be the rose section of the famous botanical collections of Butchart Gardens in British Columbia, Canada.

NOT ACCEPTED:
Gardens that merely have roses along with other flowers. It must be a specifically designated and labeled rose garden.

Front yards, or private gardens, random plantings no matter how pretty they are.

The garden must be open to the public at least some of the time.

Instructions for Posting a Rose Gardens Waymark:

To place a waymark please gather the following required and optional(if possible)information:

REQUIRED:
1. Coordinates of main entrance.
2). Photo of an identifying sign. Special exceptions may be made if there is no sign but otherwise documented as a specific rose garden.
3). Wide shot photo of the garden (designated as default picture for site).
4). Include in the waymark title the name of the garden followed by the city and stater or country. Please use this fomat: My Rose Garden - City, State

Optional: Address, hours, any fees, year opened, garden owners, History of the garden and any additional information.

SPECIAL NOTE: The purpose of this category is to display ROSE GARDENS. So, we highly encourage pictures of roses including close-up views. No GPS'r photos, please.

While we recognize that roses are not always in bloom, you must still include photos of roses! This means no waymarks consisting only of snow covered, or pruned back gardens without any flowers to view will be accepted! This may mean that you can waymark some rose gardens only at certain seasons of the year, so plan accordingly.

SPECIAL NOTE: While the details outlined in our category description, and the requirements listed in the posting instructions, cover the MINIMUM elements and standards for all waymarks in this category, each waymark will also be evaluated by a volunteer reviewer for overall quality and appropriateness. If a reviewer deems that there are deficiencies in some aspect of the waymark, the waymark may be either declined or accepted with request for changes and/or additions in either content or format.

Each waymark will be evaluated on its own merits. We will endeavor to be reasonable and flexible while maintaining the quality standards for the category. If there is a disagreement, try to work it out with the evaluating officer, or appeal to the group leader, but we reserve the right to accept or decline a waymark based on our best judgement.

LANGUAGE NOTE: We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. Because of our international scope, we also acknowledge ENGLISH as our lingua franca. English will create the highest level of accessibility globally. All waymarks must have at least a short description in ENGLISH. We encourage bilingual and multilingual waymarks, but one of the languages must be English. We have volunteer translators to help.

Relying on software or internet based translators, such as Babylon and Google Translate, may NOT yield accurate translations that are intelligible. Use these only when there is no alternative. Although we do not expect grammatical perfection, a waymark may be declined if there the English language is not understandable.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
