Description:: Every building has a story, every building had a purpose, if you do any amount of exploring you have probably come across an old ranchers camp, an old abandoned miners cabin, or something like that, these are what this category is all about.

Expanded Description:

What this category is not: It is not for old gas stations, hotels, cafes, and the like. It is not for barns and other buildings on Farms. It is not for Ghost Towns. Waymarks for this category should be in an out of the way place that is not traveled daily.

Instructions for Posting a Unoccupied Buildings, Shacks, and Cabins Waymark:

From 11th June 2015 we won't be accepting buildings in total ruin. To create a waymark in this category, you must record the actual location of a the abandoned structure. To be accepted, the waymark must meet the following criteria:

1. You must provide coordinates taken at the location.

2. You must provide one or more quality pictures of the location or the object. Neither you nor your GPSr need to be in the picture. In fact, it is preferable that you aren't in it. Mark it as the default image. Additional photographs are requested, but not required.

3. The building must be abandoned but NOT in a total ruin and not marked as a tourist attraction (no historical markers, signs, etc).

4. Narrative Description -- Please include as much information about the location you are waymarking as you can-- its history, significance of its name, etc. -- whatever is applicable.

5. Naming -- Provide the name, followed by the closest city, state and country. Example: Lost Hospital - Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

6. Language -- Versions in any language are welcomed but an integral version in English is MANDATORY.
