 allows ratings
Horse statues have found a place for themselves in lively little corners of plush living rooms or a stately office of golf playing executives. A wide variety and forms of horse statues are available throughout the world e.g. horse busts, chariots, lamps war horses with a bridle, horse tables, wall decor etc. Statues depicting a farm horse or a racehorse in fiberglass are a favourite amongst horse-lovers too. This is the place for uniquely painted or decorated fiberglass horses in your community
Expanded Description:
Well over 30000 years B.C. man had not yet discovered the potential of the horse as an animal. Man hunted horses for meat but as years passed, he realized that the horse is apt for hunting meat as well as warfare. Beautiful, sturdy, as elegant as a Goddess and known for human qualities such as loyalty, the horse emerged a favorite creature. And all these qualities are strewn together into Horse statues to remind one constantly of the value and nobility of this animal. Romans and the Greek were instrumental in popularizing the Horse statue as an art form. Horses were almost indispensable in those days since they participated in warfare, Panathenaic Games, used in the cavalry etc. The muscular flexes, the graceful demeanor and the lustrous colours of the creature are extremely well depicted in dynamic sculpture. Horse sculpture was used as motifs in buildings, temples etc. Keeping a horse statue soon became an act of aristocracy as only the rich and deserved had the status to own one. The domestication of the horse in China played an influential role as the animal helped in crucial economic progress of the nation due to its great farming skills. Just as the laughing Buddha is an important figure for the Chinese, the horse is regarded as an important creature in China since it is the seventh animal in the Zodiac. A particular type of horse statue (Bei Wei style) made of terra–cota, standing in grand style with saddle is placed on its back, is a fine example of genius craftsmanship as great attention is paid to the minute details like the mane, the supple body etc.
