Description:
Miniature railroads (also known as zoo or park trains) are any operating railroad that would not be considered "full sized" but which are still capable of carrying passengers. They can be found worldwide.
Expanded Description:

MINIATURE RAILROADS Wikipedia

Miniature Railroads are park, club or zoo trains that offer an opportunity for the public to ride a passenger carrying miniature railway.

These are small gauge trains running in amusement parks, city parks and other public areas.

Miniature Railroads usually have gauges smaller than 3 feet. 12", 15", 18" and 30" gauges are common but miniature railways that carry passengers can be as small as 7.5".

The website railroaddata.com provides several links to specific miniature railroads including a list of Miniature Railroads in the USA sorted by state and International Miniature Railroads that lists miniature rail from Argentina to the United Kingdom. Another great United Kingdom Resource is the Miniature Railway World page that lists the UK miniature railways by county.

A PDF of The Annual Guide to Narrow Gauge and Miniature Railways in the British Isles and Ireland: 2003 can be used as an additional reference. (some railways (narrow gauge) on this list may not qualify for the miniature railway category)

For a history of miniature rail you can visit The Original Parktrains Website. In the Historyville section there is information on many of the engines used in the USA on miniature railroads.
