This category can include any retail fueling location that dispenses E85 fuel (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline). E85 is still a marginal commodity compared to gasoline and stations selling E85 pop up without much notice. But the locations are important for the more than 7 million flexible fuel vehicles in the U.S., not to mention the world-wide number of flex fuel vehicles.
It is estimated that there are about 1,800 E85 stations in the U.S. alone and we'd like to verify their location to be sure we have an accurate Station Locator list. Many are not listed in any phone directory and are somewhat difficult to find.
While natural gas and electric charging may gain in popularity in the future, E85 is the only fuel positioned today to displace a significant amount of gasoline made from foreign oil. We want to encourage stations to carry E85 by publicizing their location, and we want to encourage the people who drive flexible fuel vehicles to use E85 on a regular basis. Worldwide acceptance of E85 is growing in countries such as Brazil, Sweden, France, and Argentina. All locations of E85 fuel pumps are encouraged and welcome.
