Household Appliances and Presses
Description:
The Household Appliances and Presses category is for large, free-standing household appliances made before 1940 exclusively for home use. We are looking for the big and bulky machines our mothers and grandmothers used for big household chores, such as washing clothes, preparing meals, transforming raw ingredients into food, the converting of textiles into clothing, rugs and similar items and the development of fiber.
Expanded Description:
All items must be on permanent display in a museum, business, or other location that is open to the public.

There are some exclusions for home yard art or decorations and items offered for sale, see below.

Any item that is on private property must be visible from a public location.

All items must be essentially complete.

NO item will be accepted in this category that:
• Is displayed outside as yard art or decoration: including items used as planters.
• Is located in a private collection not open to the public or “By Appointment Only”.
• Is made in the modern era to appear vintage.
• Is obviously discarded.
• Is offered for sale in a store or by a vendor of any kind.
• Is small and is considered hand held or counter-top.
• Is used for a business enterprise or in a commercial or industrial setting.
• Was in use prior to the beginning of the industrial revolution.

October 29, 2018 Update:
As of today this category will no longer accept any unit that the primary function is for heating only.

The previous two approved heating units are being grandfathered.
