Freestanding Arches
 allows ratings
This category will hold a collection of freestanding arches, both gateway arches and triumphal arches, ancient and modern. As the category grows, the hope is to show how such a simple shape has grown and changed over the ages, and how different regions of the world symbolically interpret this structural form.

Freestanding ArchesTriumphal Arch - Custom House Quay, Dublin, Ireland

in Freestanding Arches

This triumphal arch was built in 1813 and until 1998 stood in Amiens Street in Dublin. It was relocated to the newly redeveloped Custom House Quay area in 1998. A plaque attached to the arch indicates that the arch is dedicated to Pat O'Shea.
