The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, officially named, but commonly known as the VFW, is oraganized into local posts and their buildings are ofen used for community events as well as their own meetings. Frequently there are various displays and memorials on the site. They are an important part of American heritage and culture.

Other VFW buildings are also eligible for inclusion here, as long as they are clearly marked identifying their VFW status.

Instructions for Posting a VFW Posts Waymark:
1. The name of the waymark must include the number and name of the post, and its location in the following format:

2. Coordinates must be obtained via personal visit to the site, and should be taken as near to the main entrance as possible. No drive-by waymarks!

3. At least TWO photos must be submitted to the waymark gallery -- one showing the entire building, and another close-up view clearly showing a sign or identifying lettering. Photos of any memorials or displays are strongly encouraged.

SPECIAL NOTE: While the details outlined in our category description, and the requirements listed in the posting instructions, cover the MINIMUM elements and standards for all waymarks in this category, each waymark will also be evaluated by a volunteer reviewer for overall quality and appropriateness. If a reviewer deems that there are deficiencies in some aspect of the waymark, the waymark may be either declined or accepted with request for changes and/or additions in either content or format.

Each waymark will be evaluated on its own merits. We will endeavor to be reasonable and flexible while maintaining the quality standards for the category. If there is a disagreement, try to work it out with the evaluating officer, or appeal to the group leader, but we reserve the right to accept or decline a waymark based on our best judgement.
