For counties, towns, cities, etc. the location of the coordinates must be at the city/town hall or county courthouse to help avoid duplicate postings. If none exist, then the local post office can be used.

Example: "An iron tower named after its designer"

    Detailed Description:
You must clearly and separately describe both the "Place" and the "Person" using at least one paragraph for each. Try to make the description thorough and interesting. It is helpful to label the beginning of each portion of your description.

    Example of a Detailed Description:

      The Place:
"The Washington Monument is the world's tallest obelisk..." (one or more paragraphs of description)

      The Person:
"George Washington was the first U.S. President..." (one or more paragraphs of description)

We recommend using Google, Wikipedia, etc. to obtain interesting information to help with writing the description. We're looking for interesting, informative waymarks. If you copy word-for-word, please be sure to cite your sources. Quoted text must be accompanied by credits to the author/web-page or other printed source. Plagiarism is not permitted.

If linking to other webpages it is your responsibility to make sure that they will be valid links in the future. It is best to add all pertinent information to your page in case the information in the U.R.L. gets changed or removed.

    Photo Requirement:
At least two quality photos taken by you are required. No out of the car window photos allowed. One close-up photo that includes the name of the place/structure is required and at least one photo of the general area.
