The purpose isn’t to debate the ‘realness’ of mighty, mythical, magical or mysterious beings/creatures… but we do have a few requirements for posting in this category.
NAME: Give the name of the Epic Being or Creature followed by the location of the exhibit. Here is the format: Name of Epic Bring or Creature – Location of exhibit Examples: Swan maiden -- Malino, Sweden Monument to Explorers Lewis & Clark -- St. Charles. Missouri, USA.
Coordinates: Accuracy is the key. We suggest using a GPS.
Photograph: You need at least one original picture. The object of the photo can be that of a statue, a mural, or even an event when part of the “epic” was acted out. There is a lot of flexibility here.
Narrative description: Tell the story to answer the question, why should the figure, character, being, creature, etc. be considered 'Epic'? Your description will help the category managers determine if you have met this requirement, so please remember to share the story! We need just enough to be able to make the call according to our definition of what it takes to be ‘Epic.’
Don't limit yourself to a 'too' narrow view of what it takes to be Epic (see the definition above). Below you’ll see a link to a few resources to get the ideas flowing.
Needs a little inspiration? Here is a link to Wikipedia’s mythical creatures list. We’ll leave you with a parting thought. Who are today's Epic Beings...the stuff of legends...? Will there be bards singing tales of George W.? Churchill? Lenin? Trudeau? O'Higgins? Columbus? Likely not for most of them.
Variables:< Most of the variables are optional - only "Exhibit Type" is required.
