The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.
Expanded Description:
The following types of waymarks will be accepted.
1. Memorials & Monuments
2. Holocaust Educational Centers
3. Museums
4. Concentration Camps
5. Locations – Supporting documentation a requirement
6. Historical Marker (independent of above)
7. Holocaust Libraries or libraries dedicated to the Holocaust
8. Certain cemeteries
Instructions for Posting a The Holocaust Waymark:
1. It is suggested the title of the waymark could be as follows:
Name of Waymark – City/State or Country
Please capitalize proper nouns

2. Please attempt to write the short description in complete, grammatically correct sentences.

3. A long description is required. The long description shall contain complete sentences and be grammatically correct. It is our expectation the following be included:

  • A complete description of the waymark

  • Dedication date

  • Who or what group is responsible for the waymark

  • Describe the significance of the waymark

  • The relationship of the location (town, city, country, etc.) to the Holocaust if one exists. Perhaps there is a large Jewish population for example.

4. A description of the area where the waymark is located

5. Any pertinent memorial text will be typed up in the appropriate field.

6. Photos: one of memorial, one close-up of any written portion of memorial, one of general area. This is non-negotiable.

7. All sources MUST be documented. If you plagiarize, the waymark will be denied.

8. Your personal thoughts and anecdotes on the waymark.
