Description:
Showcasing the Community Service Projects of Girl Scout Gold Award Candidates (mostly in the USA), Chief Guide Award and Queens Guide Award, or Chief Guide’s Platinum and Diamond Award Candidates (Girl Guides) around the World.
Expanded Description:
From GSUSA: “The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout 14-18 may earn. Someone once described the Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for" in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills, and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold" set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship.”
From GSUSA: “The Gold Award project is the culmination of all the work a girl puts into "going for the Gold." It is something that a girl can be passionate about—in thought, deed, and action. The project is something that fulfills a need within a girl's community (whether local or global), creates change, and hopefully, is something that becomes ongoing. ...if it is something tangible, it should come with a plan for use and maintenance within the community. The project is more than a good service project—it encompasses organizational, leadership, and networking skills.”

Awards around the world vary in name - but ALL of them require many hours of commitment and work on the part of the Girl Scout or Guide.

This category serves to showcase some of the great works the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides do. Preferably, Gold Award Projects that are PHYSICAL and TANGIBLE - that others can visit.
Instructions for Posting a Girl Scout Gold Award Project Sites Waymark:
Provide the coordinates and at least one picture of the Gold, Chief Guide, Queens Guide, Chief Guide’s Platinum or Diamond Guide Project.
Although an actual, PHYSICAL, TANGIBLE, Project is highly preferred - as it is MUCH easier to mark and for others to visit - this category will allow a location (hospital, school, etc) that benefited by an event or collection drive, etc.

However, if this is the case; (a location (hospital, school, etc) that benefited by an event or collection drive, etc. ); detailed information must be included. For instance, a web-link to a published article or video about the Awardee and the Project. And also include very detailed information about that project - "who (it benefits), what (exactly the Scout/Guide did), when (the date), where (exact place and address), why (why did the she chose the location or group)" of the project.
Projects that are simply a one time event or collection/drive without a PHYSICAL LOCATION or ADDRESS can not be accepted.

For ANY project: You must provide the Name (First only is ok, if you prefer) of the Gold Award Scout Candidate and the Troop number, or the Service Unit, or at the very least, the Council the girl belongs to.
If available, the date the project was completed. Any additional information is welcome.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Provide a picture of the Gold, Chief Guide, Queens Guide, Chief Guide’s Platinum or Diamond Award Project.
If there is a sign mentioning the project please include that in your photo.

This cemetery was an unfenced field until 2000. Markers dated back to the gold rush era. This Scout researched the names and locations of plots to create a legible directory.
