To gather a list of locations where people can visit an Anchor which was placed for public display. These can be ceremonial in nature, on land or attached to a ship that is permanently docked and used for tourism. Any Anchors that move around are not eligible for inclusion. Please list Anchors that you would want to visit, not mundane versions.
This Category is in direct competition with BELLS. Let's see who wins by reaching 100 listings first!
Remember: You must be able to be photographed with the Anchor to list it successfully. Normally these would be 'ground-based' by nature but exceptions may exist. You do not need to be in the photograph but the option must be possible. As a guideline, if you cannot touch the anchor then it is outside of the height range we are looking for. If the anchor is encased or fenced off to prevent touching then please include a photo that demonstrates this form of barrier.
Naming your Waymark: You may name your Waymark Listing anything you like within reason but it should provide some indication of the nature of the site. Consider adding a descriptive tag at the beginning of the name to further assist Waymarking participants to locate the Waymark.
As a guideline, the following is a suggested naming scheme for listings in this category: Anchor - Sink the Bismark!
While you are free to create your own Waymark Listing name, using the suggested style may help people when they visit multiple Waymark locations.
As a suggestion for your visit log, please make every effort to supply a brief-to-detailed note about your experience at the Waymark. If possible also include an image that was taken when you visited the Waymark. Images can be of yourself, a personal Waymarking signature item or just one of general interest that would be of value to others. Sharing your experience helps promote Waymarking and provides a dynamic history of your adventures.

Mooring Anchor, Kaikoura Museum, Kaikoura, New Zealand.
A mooring anchor recovered from the area of New Wharf to the south of Kaikoura city in 1964. Probably laid in about 1910 to anchor mooring buoys to which ships could secure their bow or stern lines.
