Non-Specific Veteran Memorials
Managed By: Icon Here Never Forget
Description:

To locate, photograph and document non-specific or multi-war veteran memorials or monuments.
Expanded Description:
We are looking for monuments and memorials commemmorating veterans. These monuments and memorials will have either no specific war listed (such as a monument saying "For Those Who Serve" or "For Our Soldiers") or be multi-war in scope.

The multi-war monuments must be of a kind that are not separatable into separate categories: a memorial "walk" with bricks for soldiers from various wars would be acceptable, for example, but a memorial park with a separate monument or engraving for each war would not.

As this category is seeking to honor a broad range of forces, we will not accept memorials dedicated to a single person.

PLEASE NOTE: Memorials designating a single war will not be accepted, regardless of whether or not there is an existing Waymarking category for that particular war.

UPDATE August 27, 2010
Blue Star Memorial Highway markers are excluded from this category.

Instructions for Posting a Non-Specific Veteran Memorials Waymark:

1. Photograph
Each submission must have an overall photo of the monument in question. This photo should be an "art shot" with no GPSr in the photo. Please also include photos of any engravings or words on the monument if they're not readable in the overall photo.

2. Inscriptions
If there be text on the marker, it should be written out in the text field, or in the long description or use a screen shot and use html to import it into the long description.

3. Long Description
The long description must be completed. Some ideas for the long description would include a physical description of the monument or memorial. If available, please try and include information about the community, dedication date, organization responsible for placement of monument, wars mentioned (if any). If possible, the long description should include something unique other than a cut and paste but this is your option.

4. Naming Convention
The title of each waymark should include the name of the monument followed by the City and State. The could look like this example highlighted in red: Delaware Township War Memorial - Cherry Hill, NJ

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Visited Logs must contain, at least, a picture of the monument and your GPSr. Preferably YOU at the monument with your GPSr, but we understand that some people are camera-shy.
It is suggested you please include something about your visit here, as well.
