Scenic Hikes
Managed By: Icon Here Scenic Hikes Managers
Description:
This waymark category is designed for those scenic or special places that you would like to share with the waymarking community.
Expanded Description:
These waymarks will encompass those areas where there are walks and trails leading to some natural and or aesthetic feature that would generally be deemed to be scenic. They may be National Park Service Lands or Wildlife Refuges where you would like to share a scenic view with your fellow cachers (if you're into geocaching as well). Please use this category to catalog those beautiful areas of your country's beautiful lands using your camera and your GPS as our guide. Note: We are looking for quality waymarks that are descriptive and informative!
Instructions for Posting a Scenic Hikes Waymark:
To post a scenic waymark you must include at least one original photo of the hike - the photo should be of an attractive and identifying feature of this walk/hike (think of something scenic). Additional photos are highly encouraged. Each photo must be original and taken by the waymark submittor while on the hike and must have the coordinates of where the photo was taken accompanying it/them. To qualify as a scenic hike you must also post the starting coordinates for the trail head and the approximate distance and or time needed to do this hike. As a general rule we are requesting hikes to be a minimum of 1.5 kilometres / 1 mile to qualify, but if you have a Scenic Hike you would like to submit less than this distance send an email to NW_history_buff and he will take a look at its merits. Scenic Hikes will include hikes up to, but not exceeding, an overnight hike. This means it may be a hike that would take in an average days walk in as well as an overnight stay and then be able to walk out the next day. Any hikes longer than this will be referred to the Long Distance Hiking Trails category which provides for this sort of walk. Include as much detail as possible about the hike so others will know what they are getting into before attempting the hike themselves. Our purpose here is to document those Scenic Areas that people would not normally visit but you want others to come see simply for the beauty of the surroundings. This category will approach submissions with an eye for inclusion but we also reserve the right to deny those submissions we deem unfit and could be submitted into another category.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
To log a waymark you must post at least one original picture (preferably with yourself in it) showing the main feature or attraction of this walk/hike.
No picture means no proof which means No Post!
