Description:: A view of a city or town from a hill, from a structure, or across a body of water such as a bay or a lake.

Expanded Description:

A view of a city or town from a nearby high point or across a body of water has often been a special place for visitors to go to. Often the view is even better a night when the city lights standout against the dark sky.

A Cityscape is any spot you feel has a great view of your town or city. Views of buildings from street level are not cityscapes. Generally you should see a substantial part of the downtown or central area of the city or town.

The view can be from a natural high-point, a man-made structure, or from a boat on the water. Views from airplanes, balloons, blimps, helicopters, etc. are not allowed.

Instructions for Posting a Cityscapes Waymark:

It must be accessible to the public. Generally we won't accept a view from your apartment or hotel room. If the hotel has an observation deck or a public restaurant on an upper floor that would be the place to post your pictures from.

The coordinates of the view point must be no more than 5 miles (8 km) from the city/town limits. There were too many submissions from mountains 20 miles from the city where you couldn't make out any particular landmarks in the city. These location may fit in one of the other scenic view categories. The city should predominate the view in a cityscape.

It must be at least .5 miles (.8 km) from other cityscape waymarks. We don't want you to list every turnout along a mountain road where you can see the city from.

There may be a webcam at the location, but the purpose of this category is to take the visitor to a place where they have a view of the city and can take a picture with their own camera. If you want a picture through the webcam, please use the Web Camera category.

Use the name to tell something about the viewing location, E.g., Blueberry Hill, Staten Island Ferry. We don't want every cityscape to be named "View of <City Name>".

Provide a description of the viewing site and the required variables.

A photo of the view is required.
