Description:
This category waymarks Australian survey markers known as trig or trigonometrical stations.
Expanded Description:
Waymarks that should be placed in this category are Australian trig or trigonometrical stations. We are not accepting other survey markers in this category.

The Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping defines Trig Points or Trigonometrical Stations as "a point on the ground, the geographic position of which has been determined by geodetic survey." The Wikipedia describes Trig Points as being commonly marked by a "ground mark with a white quadripod supporting a black disc above the ground mark". Trig Points are also known as Major Control Stations in ACT.

Frequently Trig Points are shown on topographical maps and/or may be listed on various fora including the Geoscience Australia names database.

Instructions for Posting a Australian Trig Points Waymark:
To place a waymark in this category you should:

(a) Clearly name the waymark identifying the location of the waymark, e.g., Bald Hill, Avon Valley National Park, Western Australia. Ideally you should use the formal name for the Trig point.

(b) Include on the waymark page a clear identifying photo of the trig point. If the object being waymarked is no longer a clear survey mark, e.g., the frame has gone, you must be able to provide the relevant topographical map details marking the trig point.

(c) Provide any additional information which may help others in visiting the waymark such as topographical maps details, general description of the area etc.

(d) Ensure the waymark is touchable.

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
To log your visit to a waymark, you must post a photo of the Trig Point with your GPSr in it or yourself at the location. Also please describe your visit to the waymark.
