Statues or memorials of human's best friend, the dog. Please click on "show additional information" below to see requirements for posting in this category.
Expanded Description:

This waymark category seeks locations of statues that show a dog alone or with a human companion of some kind. Our pets mean so much to us in our lives for so many of us. They are family. Dogs have played some important roles in history as well. We seek out these locations.

To create a new waymark you must find a statue or memorial of a dog. NOTE: Guidance has been provided that Dog Statues only accepts 'real' dogs (animals - not fantasy or cartoons or unspecified (ex., Día de los Muertos [Day of the Dead]). Outspoken1 Please post three dimensional statues only, no plaques or markers. A sculpture in an airport that is within the secure area (or any other secured location) would not fit this category as only people with tickets would be able to view the sculpture. The piece must be on permanent display; no temporary locations. Consumer mass-market items commonly made of plaster, plastic, concrete, etc., such as garden/patio sculptures are prohibited.

This is a tribute to the original locationless cache, GC922B, Man's Best Friend by Penny & Chaos.

German shepherds were often used by the military and served as bomb search dogs. When the troops left Vietnam, the handlers came home without their dogs. Not by choice, but by bureaucracy.
